* Our good friends over at Pangea Organics have just launched an incredible new movement. Check it out, be inspired, get involved!
* The current issue of Orion magazine features Basia Irland’s ice sculpture project “Books of Ice,” which raises awareness about the health of our waterways. To make the sculptures she identifies native river-dwelling plants, freezes seeds of those plants in water from their rivers, carves books out of the resulting ice, and then releases them back into the rivers. The sculptures are awe-inspiring. Read the article by Kathleen Dean Moore and watch the video—both are poetic and insightful.
* Celebrate Pi Day this week with one (or two, or 3.14) of those sweet-treat recipes you’ve bookmarked for a special occasion. And yes, any day that gets you in touch with your inner geek is special. (Riesling Poached Pear Tart with Chai Spiced Custard from Roost)
* Happy Cassoulet Day! It’s a new unofficial Roost holiday, honoring the publication of our new collection of food and family essays, The Cassoulet Saved Our Marriage. Here is just one way of celebrating it, a new Ben and Birdy post by author and contributor Catherine Newman.
